Party Tips Feel like you are balancing a table on your chin? Here's a few tips to ensure a smooth party. 1. Plan, plan plan! Make sure sure invitations are well in advance (at least 2 weeks in advance with RSVP). Prepare all healthy foods and desserts well in advance so you don't need too much prep time the day of the birthday. Know what rooms you'll be using and block all other unused rooms. Hide any house pets for the kids safety and for theirs. Have a few games planned as well as a plan B. Make a checklist and a itinerary 2. Call your favorite magician before giving out the invitations, to ensure there are no problems with availabilities. 3. Themes are really great and set the mood. My favorite is the wizard or the princess theme. Other ideas: cars, sports, pokemon etc. The secret is just picking whatever your child likes. Match the invitation cards, cake, foods, activities, decoration etc. 4. Make it obvious that you have a party in the house. Place balloons or banners outside to make it easier for your guests to find the house. This also helps lost magicians. 5. You can help make the most of this experience by keeping distractions to a minimum. Here are some ways to do just that. The show should be indoors, against a wall with an open space for the children to sit on the floor. Please do not put the children in chairs. The fewer obstacles between them and the show, the better. Do not give the children food or drinks during the show. Their enthusiasm and your carpet will suffer. Pets who are part of the family should be in another room during the show. 6. Feed cake AFTER the show. Face Painting and Balloon Sculptures can be made while you serve cake or lunch. 7. If you rather have control on that very special day, try not to get carried away and invite too many guests. A good rule of thumb is one guest for every year of age of your child. If you plan on having other adults attend, then you can try a few more guests. Inviting parents for younger crowds is also a good idea, so they can join in on the fun. 8.Give your party enough time so you don't feel rushed, but not too long so you feel burnt. Give 15 to 30 minutes for your guest to arrive before the magician does his show. Think of how much time you'll need for cake, presents and other activities, then add an extra 30 minutes. 9. Have loot bags. Loot bags are a nice way for your guest the remember the great party. Have these goodies match your theme and get your child to help you with the selection of the items that go in. Making your child participate in the preparation their birthday is a great way to make them feel important as well as learning on how to organize activities. 10. As much as your child was involved in setting up, they should also be involved in the clean up. It helps children develop a sense of responsibility and it helps take the pressure off of you when you realize a tornado called children has hit your beautiful home. Have fun, make it a game. If by now you're still alive, congratulations, you survived yet another birthday party. See you next year! |
